The community fund is back!
Do you need help to run a Sorted Money Month event or initiative? Now in its third year, the Money Month community fund provides small grants for not-for-profit organisations to support their local community with events and other initiatives that promote financial wellbeing during August. Activities such as baking and soup stalls, promotions in malls and libraries, panel discussions and gardening giveaways are an invaluable part of this national public awareness campaign, encouraging people to engage with financial sector community groups and reach out for help or advice.
The theme for Sorted Money Month 2025 is emergency savings, an essential way New Zealanders can empower themselves to cope better with unexpected costs. Many of our community partners work with their clients to help them build up their emergency savings to avoid debt and increase their financial resilience. This Money Month, you can engage with the theme or simply promote general pathways to getting ahead and improving financial wellbeing.
To apply for a share of $5,000 to support your community during Money Month, tell us about your good ideas. Monetary grants to help support your community activity will be given to a maximum value of $1,000, and will be allocated in smaller denominations, depending on the proposal. Smaller denominations are more likely to be granted than the maximum amount, to ensure more communities can benefit. You’re welcome to suggest two initiatives of different value in your application.
Get in your entry before 11.59pm on Friday 13 June 2025. Successful applicants will be confirmed by Friday 20 June 2025; if you can’t be contacted by Friday 27 June 2025, your grant will be forfeited and distributed to another applicant.
